Management of Youth Initiatives

YI Board of Trustees

The Trustees are responsible to govern the organisation including agreeing its plan, budget and policies. The Trustees appoint the Director and are the guardians of the original vision of YI. The Trustees are legally and financially responsible for YI.

The Trustees of Youth Initiatives are: Francis Dick (Chair) , Elaine Roub, Richard Perry (Treasurer), Lynda Gould and David Quintana

YI Management Team

The Management Team are responsible for the operations of the organisation and are responsible to the Trustees for the proposal and implementation of the plan, budget and policies of Youth Initiatives. The Management Team are responsible to recruit and oversee the staff.

Management Team members:

Managing Director: Doug Smith: Chairs the management team and directs the work

Development Officer: Andrew Hewitt: Develops the LifeLine project East and West Belfast and seeks to expand the YI model of youth work to new places including Downpatrick and Banbridge.

Community Relations: Kathy Willis Project Coordinator for Creative Crosslinks.

The Project Coordinators

The Project Coordinators are staff members responsible for one of the Youth Initiatives projects. They give input into the management of the organisation and are responsible for directing one particular project. Project Coordinators and other staff are responsible for the work of informal education, mentoring, supervising volunteers and administration in Youth Initiatives.

Staff Employees:

Youth Initiatives employs other staff to carry out the work of the organisation. This work involves directing projects, informal education, mentoring, supervising volunteers and administration.

Youth Involvement:

Young people are both beneficiaries and responsible leaders in Youth Initiatives projects. Young volunteers help plan, organise and run the YI programmes as project team members.

YI Board of Reference

The Purpose of the YI Board of Reference is to give Youth Initiatives a broader outside perspective, expertise, and voice to our work: -

To give advice and input to the trustees and/or director of YI on relevant issues.
To publicly identify with YI and in this way lend their support to YI. This would include having their names included in YI publications and quoted in conversations as “members of the Board of Reference” and thus as supportive of YI.
To attend some YI supporters’ events, fundraising events and presentation events; probably of the order of 1 or 2 events a year.

Youth Initiatives accounts are audited annually by Baldwin Scofield and Co. Chartered Accountants .
