How do the Projects run?

Youth Initiatives consists of 7 main youth programmes or projects, each of them with their own clear purpose and focused in a specific field of action.
The next chart represents this. Each project run's in its own environment but all of them are linked through Youth Initiatives.

Creative CrossLinks
|

A partnership project with Oasis Caring-in-action in East Belfast, since 1998. This arts-based Community Relations project looks at the many challenges our young people face through community relations workshops, the creative arts and residential weekend workshops. 60 young people from West & East Belfast each term. (5 volunteer leaders help 2 staff)
Note: YI young people usually attend CrossLinks plus one local-based programme in their agegroup

N.U.T.S.[Never Underestimate Teenagers] (11- 14 yo) |

90 young people attend high-energy activities and learn life skills, through fun games nights, day trips, two residentials a year, an anti-bullying course, diversity awareness discussions at local housing estates – Poleglass & Lagmore, in West Belfast. (11 young volunteer leaders help 2 part time staff) .

LifeLine (15-18) |

40 young people attend each week in Poleglass, for: *employability skills training *drama & presentations skills, *personal and social development. They receive 2 Training Residentials a year, and many attend Summer Scheme Leadership Training (to lead 11-14s over two weeks) Many are graduates of the 11-14 APL Programme. (9 volunteer leaders + 3 staff).

Target Project - Boys (14-18)
|

A team of young male leaders, with help from staff, plan events for the guys – according to their interests and needs.
(5 volunteer leaders + 2 staff + an international volunteer).

Single Gender events for Girls (14-18) |

A team of young female leaders, with help from staff, plan events for the girls – according to their interests and needs.
(5 volunteer leaders + 2 staff + an international volunteer).

Volunteering Programme |

90% of YI volunteers (aged 16 –24) have been first participants at Youth Initiatives programmes. YI programmes being run by young leaders, from Catholic & Protestant traditions across Belfast, is a key to our ability to sustain the results of this community relations youth work in the lives of beneficiaries over the long-term.
Also the GAP Programme with young students comming from different countries all around the World.
